Stakeholders Gather To Reset Women’s Football Strategy In West Africa

CAF/WAFU-B Workshop Opens in Abuja to Boost Women’s Football Governance
Stakeholders converge on Nigeria’s capital
THE CAF/WAFU-B Women’s Football Administrators Workshop officially opened on Sunday in Abuja, bringing together senior stakeholders responsible for shaping the future of women’s football across West Africa.
The three-day programme, running from 26 to 28 April, convenes Presidents of Women’s Football Commissions and Heads of Women’s Football Departments from CAF member associations within the WAFU-B sub-region.
Focus on stronger structures and shared development goals
The workshop is designed as a strategic platform to strengthen administrative capacity and align development priorities across participating nations.
Key discussions are expected to centre on improving governance structures, harmonising development strategies, and promoting collaboration among football associations committed to growing the women’s game.
Participants will also engage in technical sessions and knowledge-sharing exercises aimed at improving operational standards across the region.
Driving collaboration for long-term growth
Organisers say the Abuja meeting is part of broader efforts to ensure women’s football in West Africa benefits from coordinated planning and sustained institutional support.
The workshop is expected to end with renewed commitments toward expanding opportunities and enhancing competitiveness in the women’s game.
