Gov Eno Charges AKSU Graduates to Pursue Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Governor Addresses Combined Convocation Ceremony
AKWA Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has urged graduating students of Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) to embrace innovation, entrepreneurship and creative thinking as tools for future success.
Governor Eno gave the charge during the institution’s 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th Combined Convocation Ceremony held on Friday at the university’s main campus in Ikot Akpaden, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area.
He congratulated the graduands for their academic accomplishments and encouraged them to approach life after university with courage and enterprise.
World Rewards Bold Ideas, Says Governor
The governor said entrepreneurship remains one of the most critical pathways to unlocking human potential and achieving sustainable growth.
According to him, the world rewards people who dream boldly, think differently and turn ideas into reality.
He urged the graduates to start small if necessary, but remain focused on building ventures and careers capable of transforming their lives and communities.
Praise for University Leadership
Governor Eno commended the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oto-Abasi Akpan, for what he described as visionary leadership that has advanced the institution.
He noted that AKSU had emerged as the number one state-owned university in the South-South and fourth overall among universities in the region.
The governor also praised the establishment of seven new faculties and 60 academic programmes approved by the National Universities Commission.
Free Teaching Offer and Employment Plan
Expressing delight over the creation of the Department of Business Development and Entrepreneurial Studies, Eno announced his willingness to teach a course in the department free of charge.
He also directed the Head of Service to explore employment opportunities for first-class graduates and selected postgraduate alumni with master’s and PhD qualifications.
Thousands Graduate
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Akpan disclosed that 6,779 first-degree students and 746 postgraduate students graduated during the combined convocation.
He thanked the governor for continued support and urged the graduates to be worthy ambassadors of the university.
