Falcons Begin WAFCON Build-Up With Early Camp Arrivals

By FRED LONGJOHN OBEH
THE camp of Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, the Nigeria women’s national football team, is gathering momentum as preparations intensify for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
No fewer than 11 players have already arrived in camp ahead of the team’s double-header international friendly against Cameroon’s Cameroon women’s national football team. The friendly fixtures are part of a structured build-up programme designed to fine-tune the squad before the continental showpiece.
The coaching crew is expected to use the matches to assess player fitness, test tactical options, and integrate new invitees into the squad. With more players anticipated to join in the coming days, the atmosphere in camp is expected to grow even more competitive.
As record holders of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title, the Super Falcons will be aiming to build cohesion and momentum ahead of the tournament in Morocco, where they are widely tipped to challenge strongly for another crown.
