Oborevwori Rallies Delta Athletes At Commonwealth Games

DELTA State Sports Commission Chairman, Onoriode Oborevwori, has met with Delta-born athletes representing Team Nigeria at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Scotland. He praised their performances and urged them to remain focused as the competition continues.
Oborevwori described the athletes as worthy ambassadors of both Delta State and Nigeria. He said they had demonstrated determination, discipline and commitment in their early outings at the Games. He expressed confidence that they would achieve even greater success before the competition ends.
He encouraged the athletes to stay resilient despite the challenges of international competition. He reminded them that consistent hard work and discipline remain the foundation of sporting excellence. He also assured them that the people of Delta State were proud of their achievements and continued to support them.
The Sports Commission chairman reaffirmed the Delta State Government’s commitment to developing sports. He said Governor Sheriff Oborevwori remained passionate about building a strong sports sector through sustained investment in modern facilities, athlete development and improved welfare programmes.
According to him, the government’s vision is to ensure that Delta maintains its reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading producers of elite athletes. He noted that sports remain an important platform for youth empowerment, talent discovery and international recognition.
Oborevwori assured the athletes that the state would continue creating opportunities for them to compete at the highest level. He urged them to keep flying Nigeria’s flag with pride and strive for podium finishes throughout the Games.
