Super Eagles Winger Loses Mother

Chukwueze Suffers Personal Loss After AFCON
NIGERIAN international Samuel Chukwueze is mourning the loss of his mother, whose death was confirmed on Thursday by his brother, David, via social media.
In a deeply emotional Instagram story, David Chukwueze expressed his grief, lamenting that their mother passed away without bidding farewell or meeting her grandchild. The posts quickly attracted messages of condolence from fans and football stakeholders.
The cause of death has not been officially disclosed, but family sources said the deceased had been unwell for a prolonged period. During the first half of the season, Chukwueze reportedly made several trips between England and Italy while she received medical care.
The tragedy follows closely on the heels of another loss within the Super Eagles family, after captain Wilfred Ndidi recently lost his father in a fatal road accident.
Chukwueze’s bereavement comes shortly after his involvement at the 2025 AFCON, where he endured public criticism for missing a crucial penalty in Nigeria’s semi-final defeat to Morocco. The winger, however, showed mental strength by returning to club football in fine form.
Currently on loan from AC Milan to Fulham, the 26-year-old has registered three goals and three assists in the Premier League this season, underlining his importance to the English side.
As tributes continue to pour in, the football community has rallied around Chukwueze, offering support during what is undoubtedly a painful chapter in his life.
