Delta Clerics Unite for Annual Prayers, Political Figures in Focus
Interdenominational Gathering in Ughelli
DELTA State’s Ughelli Kingdom Hall hosted the 2026 edition of the Revd. Francis Ejiroghene Waive Annual Day of Prayers, drawing more than 1,000 clerics from Ughelli North, Ughelli South, and Udu Federal Constituency. Representatives spanned all 32 wards and included leaders from the Catholic Secretariat, Christian Council, Pentecostal Fellowship, Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), and ECWA.
Prayer Focus: Leadership and National Stability
The prayer session centered on securing divine guidance for Nigeria and its leaders, particularly in tackling insecurity and socio-economic challenges. Participants prayed for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and Hon. Waive, invoking wisdom, protection, and electoral success in the upcoming 2027 elections.
Clerics highlighted Governor Oborevwori’s leadership and humane disposition, while expressing support for Waive’s legislative performance and re-election campaign. The event emphasized sustaining prayer efforts at both church and community levels.
Clerical Praise and Commitment
Key religious figures, including Archbishop Solomon Gbakara, Ven. Badawusi, Archbishop Obieh, Bishop Chris Okoh, Rev. Deke, and Ven. Kpagban, offered prayers for Waive’s continued success and protection in office, presenting him as a moral benchmark in public service.
In response, Rev. Waive thanked participants for their prayers and assured them of his ongoing commitment to contribute to national growth and uphold ethical standards in governance while remaining faithful to his Christian calling.
The annual prayer day illustrates the continuing influence of religious leaders in Delta State’s political landscape, demonstrating how faith-based events can serve both spiritual and civic purposes, especially ahead of major elections.
