THE Maitama Branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has won the 2025 National Engineering Football Competition, defeating the Ibadan Branch 3–0 in Sunday’s final at the University of Ibadan Sports Complex. The Abuja Branch clinched third place after beating Osogbo.
The tournament capped the annual Engineers’ Combined Sporting Event, which also featured marathon races, chess and indoor games. Maitama further dominated in the dance contest, with Mrs. Queen Chibueze and Mr. Musa Jidangbun taking first and second place, while Osogbo’s Mrs. Ayotunde Akanni finished third.
NSE President, Mrs. Margaret Oguntala, said the Engineering Games were created to promote physical fitness among engineers and reduce work-related health risks. She added that the event has evolved into a strong networking platform for the society’s 93 branches nationwide and abroad.
Chairman of the NSE Sporting Committee, Olaolu Ogunduyile, noted that the games also foster mentorship and professional growth by bringing engineers together from different regions.
The event concluded with award presentations, cultural performances and a police band display.
