Ibadan Gas Tanker Explosion Kills Three, Damages Buildings

THREE people died on Friday evening when a tanker carrying 15 tonnes of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) exploded at Idi-Iroko, Amuloko in Ibadan. The explosion occurred while the tanker was transferring gas into a skid tank.
Oyo State Fire Services Agency Chairman, Mr. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident, noting that two shops and a residential building were also damaged. The agency received a distress call at 7:40 p.m. and promptly deployed personnel to the scene.
“The gas tanker with registration number LSR268YC exploded during transfer, causing fatalities and property damage,” Akinwande said. The bodies of the deceased have been handed over to police from Akanran Division. The rescue operation involved support from the Federal Fire Service, Ibadan Command.
