By UCHE OGBODO
LEADERS of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State have launched a ₦130 million cash empowerment programme targeting 2,600 beneficiaries across Isoko North Local Government Area.
The initiative, led by the member representing Isoko North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Jonathan Ukodhiko, alongside Isoko North Council Chairman, Hon. Prince Godwin Ogorugba, will provide ₦50,000 each to 200 beneficiaries in every federal ward across the local government area.
Also participating in the flag-off was the member representing Isoko State Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Bernard Odior.
The exercise began at Opute Hall in Ozoro, covering Ozoro Federal Ward and DESIEC Wards I, II, III and IV. Thereafter, the team visited Owhelogbo Federal and State Wards, Otor-Igho Ward 7, and Otor-Owhe/Akiewhe Wards 6 and 9. The day’s activities concluded at Iyede Federal and State Wards.
Speaking during the event, Ukodhiko described the initiative as a grassroots intervention designed to bring governance closer to residents. He explained that the direct financial assistance would help beneficiaries support small businesses, strengthen their livelihoods and improve their economic circumstances.
Furthermore, the federal lawmaker commended President Bola Tinubu for his administration’s policies and reforms, particularly in infrastructure development and economic management. He also praised Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for making funds available for the programme, alongside other development projects, grants and welfare interventions.
Ukodhiko stressed that people-oriented initiatives remained important in addressing economic challenges and meeting the needs of communities. He therefore urged residents of Isoko North and South to continue supporting the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections, calling on them to vote for the party’s candidates at all levels.
According to him, sustained support for the APC would help advance the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the Delta State Government’s MORE Agenda, while promoting development and effective representation.
Several other APC leaders attended the flag-off. They included former Secretary to the Delta State Government, Chief Ovuozourie Macaulay; pioneer Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and Chairman of the Asaba Capital Territory Development Agency, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Okoro; and Isoko North Local Government Vice Chairman, Dr Evelyn Aluta.
Other attendees were the APC State Organising Secretary, Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor; the Governor’s Executive Assistant on Beautification, Chief Emmanuel Erezih; Hon. Frank Ozue; APC candidate for Isoko North Constituency II, Chief John Araka; Hon. Daniel Tutumor; Hon. Richard Isagba; and other party leaders.
