Vitel Wireless Launches Free SMS & Calls Service, Targets Smarter Business Communication

By TOSI ORE
VITEL Wireless has unveiled its nationwide communication service, introducing a unified platform that blends traditional GSM with cloud-based technology to help businesses cut costs and improve team coordination.
At the official launch on Tuesday, business leaders, SMEs, and industry experts gathered to explore how the company’s system is designed to deliver affordable, secure, and scalable communication for organisations nationwide.
Executive Chairman Engr. Kenneth Nwabueze described Vitel’s network as “a growth engine for businesses,” noting that many organisations struggle with rising communication expenses and fragmented coordination tools. He said Vitel’s system offers a streamlined alternative that supports logistics firms, hospitals, schools, and startups.
A major highlight of the platform is Vitel’s Closed User Group (CUG), which allows up to 50 team members to make free internal calls and send free SMS, enjoy discounted data bundles, use PBX extensions, and access 24/7 auto-attendant features. The network also supports discounted international calls for businesses expanding their global presence.
Head of Product Marketing, Chiobi Ben Odera, said the company’s integrated technology suite gives organisations real-time staff tracking, SOS alerts, automated payroll, and performance analytics, helping boost both safety and productivity.
Central to Vitel’s offering is its Location Awareness Technology, which brings together three tools—SecureMe, Oga-App, and Location-Based Services—to provide real-time visibility over staff movements, assets, and logistics operations.
Guests were also shown a live demo of SecureMe, a user-activated safety app, and Oga-App, which uses GPS to confirm staff attendance and generate automated performance reports.
With its new service, Vitel Wireless says it aims to help Nigerian organisations operate more efficiently while reducing communication costs and enhancing team coordination.
