Tompolo Mourns Uduaghan, Recalls Former Governor’s Role In Niger Delta Amnesty Era
HIGH Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has mourned former Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan, recalling his support for peace initiatives during the Niger Delta militancy era.
Tompolo, the Ibe-Ebidouwei of Ijaw Nation and Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, expressed his condolences in a statement issued on Monday, October 19, 2026, and signed by his Media Consultant, Dr Paul Bebenimibo.
He said he received the news of Uduaghan’s death with profound sadness, describing it as unexpected.
The Niger Delta leader recalled Uduaghan’s involvement in efforts to address militancy in the oil-producing region, particularly his support for the Presidential Amnesty Programme and pipeline surveillance arrangements during the administrations of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and former President Goodluck Jonathan.
According to Tompolo, the former governor’s role during that period remains part of the history of efforts to address unrest and promote stability in the Niger Delta.
Uduaghan governed Delta State from 2007 to 2015, a period that coincided with significant efforts to tackle insecurity and address militancy in the oil-producing region.
Tompolo said the former governor would be greatly missed, extending his condolences to the bereaved family, political associates and others affected by his death.
He also prayed that God would grant the family and all those mourning the former governor the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
