Simon Ekpa’s Prison Term Reduced To Four Years After Finnish Appeal

A Finnish Court of Appeal has reduced Simon Ekpa’s six-year prison sentence to four years while upholding his conviction on terrorism-related charges, according to a report by Finnish media.
The decision followed an appeal by Ekpa against the judgment of the Päijät-Häme District Court, which sentenced him to six years in prison last year.
In addition to the terrorism-related offences, the lower court convicted the Biafra agitator of aggravated tax fraud.
However, after reviewing his appeal, the higher court upheld the finding of guilt on the terrorism charge but reduced the prison term by two years.
The ruling therefore changes the length of Ekpa’s sentence without overturning the underlying terrorism-related conviction, according to the report.
The decision marks a further development in the legal proceedings against Ekpa, whose case has attracted attention because of his Biafra separatist activities and the serious nature of the charges.
