Panic in Agbor As Petrol Spill Triggers Reported Fire Along Orogodo River

SEVERAL buildings have reportedly been destroyed by a raging fire in Agbor, headquarters of Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, following an alleged petrol tanker accident.
Preliminary reports indicate that the incident began when a petrol tanker collided with another vehicle and ruptured, spilling its contents. However, the full circumstances surrounding the accident remain unclear.
The spilled petroleum product reportedly flowed through a drainage channel into the Orogodo River before catching fire. Consequently, the flames allegedly spread along the drainage route towards the accident scene near the Anglican Church, beside Orogodo Primary School.
Among the properties reportedly affected was the popular Festy Chemist medical store, alongside adjoining buildings. Nevertheless, details about the total number of structures destroyed and the extent of the damage remain unconfirmed.
The incident has raised concerns about the dangers associated with petroleum spills in populated areas, particularly where drainage channels could carry flammable products into surrounding communities.
Further details, including the cause of the fire, possible casualties and the response of emergency services, were not immediately available.
