Oshimili South Boosts Digital Skills Drive With Second Tech Cohort

Oshimili South Expands Tech Empowerment Programme with Second Youth Cohort
Second Batch Begins Digital Skills Training
THE Executive Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Area, Hon. High Chief Ezenyili Kelvin Obi, popularly known as EKO, has inaugurated the second batch of beneficiaries under the Oshimili South Tech Empowerment Programme, reinforcing the council’s commitment to equipping young people with digital skills for the modern economy.
The inauguration came months after the successful completion of the programme’s pioneer batch, which saw 23 participants undergo intensive technology training aimed at improving their employability and entrepreneurial prospects.
The initiative forms part of the local government’s broader strategy to promote innovation, youth empowerment and digital inclusion across the council area.
Beneficiaries Receive Modern Learning Tools
To support effective learning, EKO presented Apple MacBook laptops to each of the 23 newly admitted participants.
The laptops are expected to provide beneficiaries with the resources required to participate fully in practical training and acquire hands-on experience in various areas of digital technology.
Addressing the trainees, the council chairman encouraged them to remain disciplined, focused and committed throughout the programme.
He stressed that acquiring digital skills would open doors to employment opportunities, entrepreneurship and global competitiveness in an increasingly technology-driven world.
Building on Earlier Success
The first batch of trainees completed the programme in January 2026, with participants earning praise for their outstanding performance.
To encourage excellence, the overall best graduating student received a cash award of ₦500,000 in recognition of exceptional achievement during the training.
The success of the pioneer cohort provided the foundation for expanding the initiative to accommodate another group of young people eager to develop technology-based skills.
Strengthening Human Capital Development
With the inauguration of the second batch, a total of 46 youths have now benefited from the Oshimili South Tech Empowerment Programme.
The initiative reflects the local government’s emphasis on investing in human capital as a means of preparing young people for opportunities in the digital economy.
Stakeholders believe sustained investment in technology education and innovation will not only improve employment prospects for participants but also contribute to the long-term socio-economic development of Oshimili South and Delta State.
