Oborevwori Targets 390,000 Delta Votes For Tinubu At APC Primary

Delta APC Intensifies Preparations Ahead of Presidential Primary
THE All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has intensified mobilisation efforts ahead of Saturday’s presidential primary election, with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori expressing optimism that the party would record a massive turnout in support of President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking during a strategic meeting with party leaders and stakeholders at the residence of APC founding leader Olorogun O’tega Emerhor in Evwreni, Ughelli North Local Government Area, the governor said the party was targeting at least 390,000 affirmation votes for the president.
Oborevwori, who also serves as Coordinator of the APC Presidential Primary Election in Delta State, said the party’s membership strength and grassroots presence positioned it for a strong outing during the exercise.
According to him, Delta APC currently has more than 470,000 registered members spread across the state’s wards and local government areas.
“We know our strength as a party in Delta State. We have over 470,000 members and we expect massive turnout,” the governor said.
Tinubu Deserves Stronger Backing, Says Governor
The governor described the forthcoming primary as a crucial moment for consolidating party unity and demonstrating support for President Tinubu’s leadership.
He noted that while party members had overwhelmingly endorsed him during the APC governorship primary election, the president deserved an even greater show of solidarity as national leader of the party.
“You affirmed me as sole governorship candidate with over 345,000 votes. This one is for Mr. President and he deserves more because he is the leader of the party,” Oborevwori stated.
The governor further urged party members to avoid divisions and actions capable of weakening the APC ahead of future political contests.
He maintained that political parties could only thrive where discipline, loyalty, and respect for leadership were upheld.
According to him, stable leadership structures remained critical for sustaining internal cohesion and achieving electoral victories.
APC Elders Back Mobilisation Efforts
In his remarks, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor commended the governor for strengthening party structures and promoting inclusiveness within the Delta APC.
The APC chieftain praised Oborevwori’s leadership style, particularly his willingness to consult elders and maintain cordial relationships with stakeholders across the state.
“Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is one governor who respects elders so much. We have fought for this party for years and we thank God for his coming to provide leadership and direction,” Emerhor said.
He added that consultation and respect for established structures remained vital ingredients for political stability and party growth.
Emerhor assured the governor that party leaders and supporters across Delta State were fully prepared to mobilise massively for President Tinubu during the presidential primary exercise.
The meeting formed part of ongoing consultations by the APC leadership in Delta State ahead of the party’s presidential primary election, which is expected to test the strength and cohesion of party structures across the federation.
