Oborevwori Postpones Oghareki Technical College Inauguration Over Military Crash

GOVERNOR Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has postponed the inauguration of the Model Technical College, Oghareki, in Ethiope West Local Government Area.
The inauguration, initially scheduled for Thursday, will now take place on Friday 9 October 2026, at 11am.
The postponement followed the three-day national mourning declared by the Federal Government over the fatal military plane crash at Igbokoda in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.
In a statement, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, said the decision was taken in honour of the victims of the tragedy.
Oborevwori expressed deep sadness over the crash.
He described the deceased military officers as gallant Nigerians who lost their lives in the service of the nation.
The Governor also conveyed his condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Nigerian Armed Forces and the families of the victims.
According to him, the tragedy represents a painful national loss.
He therefore urged Deltans and Nigerians to remember the deceased and their families in their prayers.
Meanwhile, the rescheduled inauguration of the Model Technical College is expected to hold on Friday at 11am.
The postponement reflects the state government’s decision to observe the period of national mourning declared in response to the military tragedy.
