Oborevwori, Delta Leaders Pay Last Respect To Bishop C. C. James

By PAULINA NZERUBE
DELTA State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has joined religious leaders, government officials and other sympathisers to honour the late Bishop Chinedu Clarence James at his funeral service.
Bishop James was the spiritual leader of Endtime Reconciliation Ministries in Asaba and the General Secretary of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Delta State chapter.
The funeral attracted the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Community and Social Development, Princess Pat Ajudua; the Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Council, Obi Kelvin Ezenyili; and the Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government Council, Innocent Esewezie.
Also present were PFN leaders and members from the state and regional levels, representatives of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), friends and members of the bereaved family.
Represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Prince Johnson Erijo, Oborevwori said he received news of the cleric’s death with profound shock. He described the deceased as a virtuous man who devoted his life to serving God and humanity.
The governor added that Bishop James would be remembered for his commitment to spreading the gospel. He also urged the family to take comfort in the life their husband, father, grandfather and brother had lived.
Oborevwori encouraged the bereaved family and other mourners to celebrate the cleric’s legacy rather than grieve without hope. He stressed that Bishop James had served God wholeheartedly and made meaningful contributions to humanity.
Similarly, the PFN State Chairman, Bishop Dr Abos Willie, described the late general secretary as a man of honour, honesty, humility and hard work. He also praised his selflessness and commitment to the Christian community.
According to Willie, Bishop James was a dependable friend of the PFN and a source of blessing to the organisation. He said the cleric’s strong belief in the fellowship had contributed significantly to its work in Delta State.
Meanwhile, Bishop Benson Ashiedu, who preached on the theme “Well Done, Good and Faithful Servant”, acknowledged the pain of the loss but reminded believers of their faith in life beyond death.
He said Bishop James had dedicated his life to God and humanity, leaving a lasting impression on people he supported spiritually and materially. Ashiedu therefore urged the family and congregation to draw strength from the deceased’s righteous and humble life.
The service featured Bible readings by the late bishop’s children. His son, Emeka James, read from Psalm 90:1–12, while his daughter, Amaka James, read from 1 Corinthians 15:50–58.
As mourners paid their final respects, tributes from the governor and church leaders centred on Bishop James’s faith, humility and enduring contribution to Christian ministry and community life.
