Oborevwori Commits ₦133 Billion To Unlock New Investments In Delta
By NWAFOR AZINGE
GOVERNOR Sheriff Oborevwori has announced a $100 million Investment Support Fund to strengthen investor confidence and accelerate economic development in Delta State.
The fund, worth about ₦133 billion, was unveiled during the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit 2026 in Asaba.
Oborevwori said the facility would reduce the financial burden facing investors and encourage the establishment of new businesses across key sectors of the state’s economy.
He said the Viability Gap Fund is aimed at ensuring that investment proposals discussed during the summit translate into real projects with measurable economic benefits.
The governor stressed that Delta has maintained sound financial management while pursuing ambitious infrastructure development.
He said the state has not taken loans from commercial banks and intends to sustain its policy of fiscal discipline.
Oborevwori added that responsible financial management has enabled the government to continue investing in roads and other critical infrastructure without compromising its finances.
He invited investors to explore opportunities in agriculture, manufacturing, oil and gas, renewable energy, logistics and the blue economy.
The governor said eligible investors would benefit from incentives such as tax and levy waivers, improved security and reforms introduced through the state’s Ease of Doing Business Council.
He described the summit as a strategic platform for attracting investment, expanding industrial activities, creating employment and boosting economic prosperity.
Oborevwori said his administration remains focused on making Delta one of Nigeria’s leading investment destinations through the implementation of the MORE Agenda.
