New DESOPADEC Board Member Begins Project Oversight In Ika Nation

HON. Cosmas Igbenije has commenced oversight of development projects in Ika Nation with an inspection of the ongoing Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) Zonal Office in Agbor. The visit came just days after his inauguration as the Board Member representing the area. The inspection marked the beginning of his commitment to monitoring projects within his constituency.
During the visit, Igbenije assessed the level of work on the project. He expressed satisfaction with the pace of construction. He, however, stressed the need for contractors to maintain approved specifications and high-quality standards. He also called for the timely completion of the project to ensure residents begin to enjoy its benefits without unnecessary delays.
The DESOPADEC Board member said the Agbor Zonal Office would strengthen the commission’s operations in Ika Nation. He noted that the facility would improve service delivery and bring DESOPADEC closer to host communities across the zone. According to him, the office will enhance coordination of development programmes and improve engagement with stakeholders.
Igbenije reaffirmed the commitment of the DESOPADEC Governing Board, under the leadership of Chairman Olorogun John Nani and Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Chief Festus Ochonogor, to implementing projects that improve the lives of people in oil-producing communities. He added that the commission remains focused on delivering its mandate in line with the MORE Agenda of the Delta State Government.
He assured residents that project monitoring would remain a priority throughout his tenure. He said regular inspections would help ensure transparency, accountability and value for public investment. The inspection followed his recent appointment and swearing-in by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as DESOPADEC Board Member representing Ika Nation.
