Mystery Surrounds Woman’s Death As Police Detain Boyfriend In Warri

Police Launch Investigation into Woman’s Death
THE Delta State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the death of a woman whose lifeless body was discovered inside her boyfriend’s apartment in Warri, leading to the arrest of the occupant of the residence.
The incident occurred on Wednesday 24 June at a residence located on Ajidi Street in Edjeba Community, Warri, where the deceased had reportedly gone to visit the suspect, identified simply as Joe.
Police authorities confirmed that the suspect has been taken into custody while detectives work to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
Neighbours Raise Alarm After Hearing Distress Cries
Residents of the neighbourhood said the incident came as a shock because the deceased had been seen moving around the community the previous day without showing any signs of illness or distress.
According to eyewitness accounts, unusual screams were allegedly heard from the apartment during the early hours of Wednesday, prompting concerned neighbours to alert the landlord, who in turn contacted security agencies.
When police officers arrived at the residence, they reportedly discovered the woman’s lifeless body inside the suspect’s room.
A resident described the incident as tragic, noting that no one in the neighbourhood anticipated such an outcome after seeing the woman alive and well just hours earlier.
Body Moved to Mortuary as Suspect Remains in Custody
The woman’s remains were evacuated to a mortuary, where an autopsy is expected to help establish the cause of death and provide investigators with further evidence.
The suspect remains in police custody pending the outcome of investigations.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, Bright Edafe, said the command was aware of the case but declined to provide further details, explaining that investigations were still ongoing.
Police have urged members of the public to allow investigators to complete their work and avoid speculation until the facts surrounding the incident are established.
