Ika South Begins ₦50,000 Bursary Payments To Support Students

Council Commences Bursary Disbursement
STUDENTS from Ika South Local Government Area have begun receiving bursary payments under a newly activated educational support programme introduced by the council administration.
The initiative provides ₦50,000 to each successful beneficiary and is aimed at easing the financial burden associated with tertiary education while encouraging academic achievement among students from the area.
Strengthening Human Capital Development
Speaking on the programme, Chairman of the council, Hon. Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, described education as the foundation for sustainable growth and community advancement.
He stated that the bursary scheme aligns with the administration’s vision of empowering young people through meaningful investments in education, skills acquisition and personal development.
According to him, governments at all levels must prioritise educational opportunities if they hope to build a knowledgeable and productive workforce capable of addressing future challenges.
Supporting Students Amid Economic Pressures
The bursary initiative comes at a time when many students and parents are grappling with rising educational costs and broader economic pressures.
Council officials said the programme is intended to provide relief for students pursuing higher education while helping them remain committed to their academic goals.
Ehiwarior noted that beyond financial assistance, the scheme sends a strong message about the value the administration places on learning and youth advancement.
Building Tomorrow’s Leaders
The council chairman urged beneficiaries to remain disciplined and dedicated to their studies, stressing that the knowledge and skills they acquire would position them to become future leaders and contributors to national development.
He reaffirmed that education, youth empowerment and sustainable human capital development would continue to occupy a central place in his administration’s policy agenda.
With the commencement of payments already underway, the council said the bursary programme represents another step toward creating opportunities for young people and building a brighter future for communities across Ika South Local Government Area.
