FG, NFF Back Falcons For Must-Win Egypt Clash

THE Federal Government, the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have rallied behind the Super Falcons ahead of their crucial Women’s Africa Cup of Nations clash against Egypt.

Top officials met with the players and coaching crew on Tuesday. They urged the team to secure victory and reach the quarter-finals.

Nigeria must beat Egypt to keep alive its bid for an 11th WAFCON title.

The Super Falcons lost 3-2 to Malawi in their opening match. They bounced back with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Zambia.

The NFF General Secretary assured the players of the full support of the Federal Government, the NSC and the football federation.

He told the team to remain focused and deliver when it matters most.

He also said the match carries added importance because Nigeria is chasing qualification for the next FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Officials promised to provide the team with the financial and logistical support needed for success.

The decisive Group C match will take place on Wednesday night at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, Morocco.

Egypt heads into the game without a point after losing its first two matches.

Nigeria starts as favourite but expects a determined challenge from the North Africans.

Victory will send the Super Falcons into the knockout stage and revive their title defence.
