Favour Agbro’s Death: Court Hears Testimony From Family, Doctor & Police Officer

THE trial of content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu Asaba, continued at the Delta State High Court in Asaba on Wednesday, with five prosecution witnesses and video evidence presented before the court.
Ogbonna faces allegations of rape and manslaughter linked to the death of 20-year-old Favour Agbro in June 2026.
Among the witnesses were Agbro’s twin sister, brother and father. The prosecution also presented the doctor who conducted the post-mortem examination and a police officer involved in the investigation.
However, defence counsel requested additional time to study the witnesses’ statements on oath and examine the evidence presented in court. The defence said it needed adequate preparation time before responding to the prosecution’s case.
Meanwhile, the prosecution maintained that it was ready to proceed. Nevertheless, it acknowledged the need to give the defence sufficient time to review the materials and prepare its response.
The prosecution team was led by Delta State Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Omamuzo Erebe, SAN. Other members included the Director of Public Prosecutions, Tejiri Anuhwin; principal state counsels Ugochukwu Okolotu and Funkekeme Solomon Junior; pupil state counsel Faith Beluchukwu; and Awele Ideal, counsel to the nominal complainant.
Ogbonna pleaded not guilty to the charges on 21 October 2026, before Justice Michael Nduka Obi of the Delta State High Court in Asaba.
Following Wednesday’s proceedings, the court adjourned the case until 19 November 2026, for continuation of the trial. The prosecution is expected to continue presenting its witnesses and evidence.
Ogbonna remains presumed innocent unless a competent court proves the charges against him.
