THE Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled a new look for the Women’s Champions League trophy as it steps up efforts to raise the profile of women’s football across the continent.
The redesign comes ahead of the 2026 tournament, scheduled to take place in Egypt from 1 to 15 November. Eight clubs will compete for the continental title, promising another contest among Africa’s leading women’s teams.
Morocco’s AS FAR Rabat will arrive as defending champions after defeating Côte d’Ivoire’s ASEC Mimosas 2-1 in the 2025 final. The victory secured AS FAR’s second title and strengthened the Moroccan club’s standing in the competition.
However, the reigning champions will face a serious challenge from South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns, who have also won the trophy twice. Their presence adds further weight to a tournament expected to showcase the strength and competitiveness of women’s club football across Africa.
Launched in 2021, the CAF Women’s Champions League provides the continent’s leading women’s clubs with a platform to compete at the highest regional level. Moreover, the competition supports CAF’s broader efforts to develop the women’s game and increase its visibility.
With clubs representing different CAF zones set to converge on Egypt, the 2026 edition will offer another opportunity to demonstrate the progress of women’s football. The new trophy design also signals CAF’s ambition to strengthen the competition’s identity and prestige.
