Asagba Azinge Hails Big Heart Radio Launch As New Dawn For Asaba

HIS Royal Majesty, Asagba Prof. Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge, SAN, OON, has described the commissioning of Big Heart Radio 92.1 FM in Asaba as a landmark development and a new chapter for the Asaba Kingdom.
The revered monarch attended the official commissioning of the radio station on August 15, 2026, and congratulated its founder and Chief Executive Officer, Chief Dr. Tony Idigbe, Akulunor Ahaba, and his wife, Chief Mrs. Elizabeth Idigbe.
Asagba Azinge said the establishment of the station represented a significant achievement for Asaba, especially because an illustrious son of the kingdom solely owns the media organisation.
He described the development as an important moment for the community and said it reflected the capacity of Asaba indigenes to invest in projects that could contribute to the growth and visibility of their homeland.
The monarch recalled his earlier visit to DOTT TV, another media organisation owned by a Deltan. However, he noted that Big Heart Radio carried a special significance because its owner is an indigenous son of Asaba.
According to him, the station could also support his broader vision of projecting and rebranding Asaba.
Asagba Azinge said the kingdom must continue to tell its stories from its own perspective while promoting its cultural heritage and preparing younger generations to take advantage of emerging opportunities.
He stressed that successful individuals such as Chief Idigbe could inspire young people to pursue meaningful goals and contribute to the development of their communities.
The monarch said the younger generation needed examples that could guide them towards productivity, ambition and responsible leadership.
He also expressed hope that the radio station would become a platform for promoting the cultural identity of the Asaba people.
As part of that vision, he noted that the Aguba music displayed during the commissioning could find a place on the station’s programming and help introduce Ahaba’s cultural heritage to a wider audience.
The Asagba prayed for the station to endure and flourish across generations.
He also acknowledged the dignitaries and institutions that supported the commissioning.
Among those recognised were Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, who was represented by Hon. Charles Osazuwa, the Obuzor of Ibusa, who was represented by the Odogwu of Ibusa, and Prince Nduka Obaigbena, who chaired the occasion.
The monarch also acknowledged the Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission, Mr. Charles Ebuebu, alongside other captains of industry and guests.
Asagba Azinge further commended Prince Richard Agu for the support he gave to Chief Idigbe.
He described the relationship between the two men as an example of genuine friendship and expressed hope that Big Heart Radio would grow into a successful and enduring institution.
In his welcome address, Chief Idigbe said Big Heart Radio 92.1 FM would focus on using information and communication to support economic development in Delta State and Nigeria.
He thanked the Asagba of Asaba for attending the event and acknowledged the monarch’s encouragement and support for the project.
Prince Nduka Obaigbena described it as a privilege to chair the commissioning, which brought together government officials, traditional rulers, industry leaders and other prominent personalities.
Prince Richard Agu, meanwhile, praised Chief Idigbe for bringing the project to reality.
He described the new station’s founder as a childhood friend and a determined achiever who had demonstrated the ability to turn vision into reality.
With its official commissioning, Big Heart Radio 92.1 FM now enters Asaba’s growing media landscape with the promise of combining broadcasting, information, economic engagement and cultural promotion.
For the Asagba of Asaba, the development carries an even broader meaning: a new platform through which the kingdom can tell its own stories and project its identity to audiences beyond its borders.
