ADP Seeks Fresh Political Momentum Ahead Of 2027 Convention

ADP Sets Date for National Convention
THE Action Democratic Party (ADP) has announced plans to hold its National Convention on 29 May 2026, as the party intensifies preparations ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
National Chairman of the party, Yabagi Sani, disclosed the development while addressing party members and supporters, describing the gathering as a major milestone in the party’s political journey.
According to him, the convention will take place a day after the Eid-El-Kabir celebration and is expected to attract delegates, party stakeholders and supporters from across the country.
Party Promises ‘Credible Alternative’
Sani said the convention would provide the ADP with an opportunity to present what he described as a credible leadership alternative capable of addressing Nigeria’s economic and political challenges.
He maintained that the party remained committed to promoting national prosperity, economic stability, peace and inclusive governance.
“The Action Democratic Party prepares to hold its National Convention on Friday 29 May 2026, just a day after Sallah,” he stated.
“At this convention, the ADP shall present to Nigerians a credible leadership alternative that will usher in a new era of sustained economic growth, national prosperity, peace and happiness for all Nigerians.”
The ADP chairman added that the convention would further strengthen the party’s internal structure and mobilise support ahead of future electoral contests.
Call for Broader National Participation
The party also used the announcement to appeal to Nigerians from different professional and social backgrounds to join its political movement.
Sani specifically called on youths, women, professionals, entrepreneurs, workers, religious leaders and traditional rulers to identify with the ADP, insisting that the party offers a platform for political renewal.
He described the current national situation as challenging and urged citizens to participate actively in shaping the country’s democratic future.
“In these challenging times, the ADP stands as a political Noah’s Ark — a safe, credible and purposeful platform for national rescue, renewal and prosperity,” he said.
Growing Political Activities Ahead of 2027
The announcement comes amid increasing political activities by opposition parties seeking to reposition themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
Analysts believe national conventions will play an important role in helping parties consolidate leadership structures, define policy directions and build alliances before the next electoral cycle.
For the ADP, the convention is expected to serve both as an organisational exercise and as a platform to project its vision for governance to Nigerians.
Sani also extended goodwill messages to Muslim faithful, party supporters and Nigerians generally as preparations continue for the convention and the Sallah celebrations.
