THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) winner of the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election.
Announcing the final results in Awka, the State Collation Officer and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, Professor Edoba Bright Omoregie (SAN), said Soludo polled 422,664 votes out of 598,229 accredited voters, defeating his closest rival, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 99,445 votes.
Fourteen other candidates contested the election, but Soludo secured a decisive victory, winning 19 out of the 21 local government areas in the state.
“Having satisfied all constitutional requirements and scored the highest number of valid votes, I hereby declare Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo duly elected as Governor of Anambra State,” Professor Omoregie announced.

According to INEC, 2,788,864 voters were registered for the election, with 598,229 accredited voters participating.
The commission recorded 584,054 valid votes, 11,244 rejected votes, and a total of 595,298 votes cast.
Although voting was disrupted in some polling units affecting 10,481 voters, the Returning Officer clarified that the margin of lead between the top two candidates exceeded the number of affected votes, making the irregularities inconsequential to the final outcome.
He confirmed that Soludo met the constitutional requirement of securing at least two-thirds of votes in two-thirds of Anambra’s 21 local government areas.
APGA Hails Victory as Mandate of Confidence
Reacting to the result, APGA National Chairman, Barrister Sylvester Ezeokenwa, described the outcome as “a well-deserved and historic mandate.”
He praised the people of Anambra for their massive support and said the result reflected public confidence in Soludo’s leadership, especially in the areas of infrastructure renewal, economic reforms, and grassroots development.
“This victory is a resounding vote of confidence in Governor Soludo’s leadership. Ndi Anambra have reaffirmed their belief that he has delivered on his promises and deserves a second term to consolidate his achievements,” Ezeokenwa said.
While expressing slight disappointment that APGA did not sweep all the local governments, he called the win “a renewed call to service.”
“We are grateful but not complacent. The next four years will redefine governance and development in our state,” he added.
Observers Praise Peaceful Election and INEC’s Performance
Political observers and civil society groups commended the peaceful conduct of the election and the timely release of results, noting that INEC’s use of technology and improved logistics enhanced public confidence in the credibility of the process.
They described the election as one of the most transparent and efficiently managed polls in Anambra’s recent history.
Soludo Promises to Deliver More in Second Term
In his acceptance speech, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo thanked the people of Anambra for their overwhelming trust and praised INEC for its professionalism.
He extended an olive branch to his opponents, urging them to join hands in building a greater Anambra.
“We have only just begun. To the people of Anambra — you ain’t seen nothing yet,” Soludo said.
With this landslide victory, Soludo is set to continue shaping Anambra’s future through his policies on infrastructure, digital economy, and inclusive governance.
