THE Federal Fire Service (FFS) has commenced investigations into a fire outbreak at Prosbel Hotel, Wuse, Abuja, following a viral video of the incident that circulated online.
Controller General of the Service, Olumode Adeyemi Samuel, FCNA, ACTI, ordered an on-the-spot assessment and preliminary inquiry after receiving reports of the fire. He immediately deployed personnel to the hotel to evaluate the situation and gather information.
During a briefing with the FFS delegation, the hotel’s manager, Mrs. Genevieve Benson, explained that the fire started from an electrical spark in an air-conditioning unit. She confirmed that the blaze was swiftly contained to the affected room, thanks to the prompt response of Federal Fire Service operatives.
A specialized FFS investigation team has since been dispatched to the hotel to determine both the immediate and underlying causes of the fire.
Speaking on the incident, the Controller General commended Prosbel Hotel management for appreciating the efforts of FFS officers and urged other establishments to adopt the same positive attitude. He emphasized the importance of quick reporting in fire emergencies.
“Quick reporting of fire incidents helps our men respond faster and minimize losses. A delayed call can mean greater damage and risk to life and property,” Adeyemi said.
The Federal Fire Service reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property through intensified fire safety advocacy, training, and regular inspections nationwide.
