Delta Declares Three-Hour Movement Restriction For October Sanitation Exercise

THE Delta State Government has scheduled its October environmental sanitation exercise for Saturday 31 October 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. During the three-hour exercise, authorities will restrict vehicular and human movement across the state.
The government has urged residents to participate actively by cleaning their surroundings, clearing overgrown weeds and desilting drainage channels. These measures, it said, will help prevent disease outbreaks and improve environmental hygiene.
Furthermore, residents must clean an area extending up to a 20-metre radius around their premises. The government described the exercise as part of residents’ civic responsibility to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
To ensure compliance, Commissioner for Environment Moses Ogodo will lead the monitoring effort alongside the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, staff and relevant government agencies. They will supervise the exercise in different parts of Delta State.
Meanwhile, the government has appealed to residents to cooperate with the directive and support efforts to build a cleaner, healthier and safer state.
Residents should therefore complete essential journeys before 7:00 a.m. Normal movement and other activities can resume after the exercise ends at 10:00 a.m.
