Commonwealth Bronze Winner Ashe Thanks Oborevwori, Targets Enugu Glory

NIGERIAN sprinter Favour Ashe has expressed appreciation to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for supporting Delta athletes at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Ashe returned from the competition with a bronze medal in the relay and said the support from the Delta State Government helped athletes focus on their preparations and performances.
The sprinter said the encouragement gave members of the contingent greater confidence as they represented Delta State and Nigeria on the international stage.
He praised Oborevwori for what he described as his commitment to the welfare and success of athletes.
Ashe said the government’s backing reduced some of the challenges athletes faced before and during the competition.
He also described his bronze medal as the product of teamwork, hard work and determination.
The sprinter said he felt proud to contribute to Nigeria’s success at the Commonwealth Games.
However, Ashe has now shifted his attention from Glasgow to the National Sports Festival scheduled to hold in Enugu.
He said he would work hard to deliver another strong performance for Delta State.
The athlete promised to give his best as he seeks more honours at the festival.
Ashe also commended the governor for investing in sports and supporting opportunities for young athletes to develop through the Delta State sports system.
He said sustained support remained important for athletes seeking to compete and excel at national and international levels.
With the Commonwealth Games now behind him, Ashe said he would remain focused on his career and continue working towards winning more medals for Delta State and Nigeria.
