Delta Health Commissioner Alerts Residents to Fake Recruitment Scheme
Public Advised to Ignore Fraudulent Employment Offers
THE Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, has cautioned residents against a growing employment scam involving fraudsters impersonating him to solicit money from job seekers with false promises of securing government jobs.
The warning follows reports that the syndicate has created fake Facebook and WhatsApp accounts bearing the commissioner’s identity while using the phone number 07055502867 to contact prospective victims.
According to Dr. Onojaeme, the criminals have been presenting themselves as officials capable of facilitating appointments into the Delta State Civil Service and other government agencies in exchange for financial payments.
No Payment Required for Government Jobs
The commissioner firmly denied any connection to the telephone number or the fake online accounts, insisting that he has never authorised anyone to collect money on his behalf for employment purposes.
He also dismissed claims circulating among victims that his official line had been compromised, describing the story as a fabricated attempt to legitimise the fraudulent operation.
Dr. Onojaeme reminded members of the public that recruitment into the Delta State Civil Service and the Ministry of Health follows laid-down government procedures based on merit and transparency.
He stressed that no official of the ministry requests payment before offering employment or any government service.
Residents Urged to Report Fraudsters
The commissioner advised residents to ignore unsolicited recruitment messages and avoid engaging individuals claiming they could secure government appointments in return for money.
He urged anyone approached by suspected fraudsters to immediately notify the police or other relevant security agencies to facilitate investigation and possible prosecution.
Ministry Collaborates with Security Agencies
Dr. Onojaeme assured the public that the Ministry of Health is working closely with law enforcement agencies to track those behind the impersonation scheme and dismantle the criminal network.
He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to transparency, accountability and protecting members of the public from fraudulent activities, while encouraging job seekers to rely only on official government channels for recruitment information.
