Odogwu Asaaba Praises Free Caesarean Section, Healthcare Services At Asaba Specialist Hospital
Influencer Shares Firsthand Experience at State-Owned Hospital
POPULAR Delta-based content creator, Odogwu Asaaba, has applauded the quality of healthcare services at Asaba Specialist Hospital (ASH), describing it as one of the best public health facilities he has visited in Nigeria after spending four days observing activities at the hospital.
The social media influencer said he accompanied a pregnant family member to the state-owned facility, where he had the opportunity to assess its operations, interact with patients and medical personnel, and document his observations through videos and other evidence.
Free Caesarean Section Impresses Visitor
According to Odogwu Asaaba, the hospital successfully performed a Caesarean Section on his relative at no cost after another medical facility had reportedly requested more than ₦1 million for the procedure.
He disclosed that the patient received comprehensive maternal healthcare, including surgery, laboratory investigations, medication and postnatal treatment, without paying hospital bills, while both mother and baby were discharged in good condition.
The content creator described the experience as evidence of the impact of Delta State’s maternal healthcare policy on improving access to essential medical services.
Commends Medical Personnel and Hospital Facilities
Beyond the free treatment, Odogwu praised the professionalism and dedication of the hospital’s doctors, nurses and other health workers, noting that they treated patients with courtesy and responded promptly to their needs.
He also commended the hospital’s clean environment, effective security, modern medical equipment and steady electricity supply, describing the overall standard of care as impressive for a government-owned health facility.
Residents Validate Healthcare Programme
His review generated widespread reactions across social media platforms, with many Delta residents sharing similar experiences at Asaba Specialist Hospital and other public health institutions across the state.
Several respondents said they had also benefited from free maternal and child healthcare services at facilities including Central Hospital Warri, General Hospital Sapele and Oghara Teaching Hospital.
Others explained that the services are delivered under the Delta State Government’s Free Maternal Healthcare Programme, which provides free antenatal care, childbirth—including Caesarean Sections—and healthcare services for children under the age of five.
Some contributors also highlighted the Delta State Health Contributory Scheme, through which registered residents receive subsidised healthcare services.
Many of those who commented credited successive administrations for sustained investments in healthcare infrastructure, while noting that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has continued to strengthen healthcare delivery through his administration’s MORE Agenda.
The growing public testimonials have renewed attention on the state’s healthcare initiatives, with residents calling for greater public awareness of the free medical services available at government-owned hospitals across Delta State.
