Delta Governor Joins Nation in Celebrating Benue’s Golden Jubilee
DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated the government and people of Benue State on the celebration of the state’s 50th anniversary, describing the Golden Jubilee as a landmark that reflects five decades of resilience, steady growth and socio-economic progress.
The governor’s goodwill message was delivered on his behalf by the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, during the anniversary celebration held in Benue State.
Tribute to Benue’s Development Journey
In the message, Governor Oborevwori extended the warm greetings of the Government and people of Delta State to Governor Hyacinth Alia and the people of Benue, noting that the anniversary represents an important milestone in the state’s history.
He described the occasion as an opportunity to celebrate Benue’s achievements over the past five decades while reflecting on its contributions to national development.
According to him, the Golden Jubilee is a fitting recognition of the state’s resilience, cultural richness and sustained pursuit of progress.
Commendation for Governor Alia
Governor Oborevwori praised Governor Hyacinth Alia for what he described as notable developmental strides since assuming office.
He expressed confidence that Benue would continue to record greater achievements under Alia’s leadership, adding that ongoing development initiatives would further improve the well-being of the state’s residents.
The Delta governor also reaffirmed his belief in stronger inter-state cooperation as a catalyst for national development.
Celebrating Benue’s Heritage and National Role
Oborevwori noted that the anniversary also highlighted Benue State’s rich cultural diversity and its longstanding reputation as Nigeria’s “Food Basket.”
He prayed for sustained peace, unity, prosperity and inclusive development across the state, expressing optimism that the next phase of Benue’s history would be marked by even greater accomplishments.
Dignitaries Grace Celebration
The Golden Jubilee attracted prominent political leaders and dignitaries from across Nigeria.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was represented at the event by his Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, while the Delta delegation included Commissioner for Energy, Engr. Michael Anoka, Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, Chief Kestin Pondi, and other senior officials.
