Oborevwori Marks Third Anniversary, Attributes Achievements To God’s Grace …Apostle Selman Ministers At Delta Thanksgiving And Praise Day
DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Friday credited the achievements recorded under his administration in the last three years to the grace, wisdom, and unwavering mercy of God.
Speaking at the 2026 Delta State Thanksgiving and Praise Day held at the Dome Event Centre, Asaba, the governor said the event was convened to acknowledge God’s faithfulness as the administration marks its third anniversary in office.
Addressing an audience comprising political leaders, government officials, traditional rulers, members of the clergy, and residents from across the state, Oborevwori expressed appreciation to Deltans for their loyalty and support since his inauguration on May 29, 2023. He described the administration’s journey so far as “eventful, exciting, and enlightening.”
The governor highlighted numerous people-centred initiatives delivered within the period, including social programmes and infrastructure projects designed to raise living standards and promote all-round development.
He declared that all projects executed by his administration were funded without recourse to borrowing, stressing that fiscal prudence and responsible management of public resources remained central to his governance model.
“We are celebrating three years of this administration, and indeed, this is the Lord’s doing. I am eternally grateful to God for granting us the wisdom to execute development projects across the state without borrowing a kobo. Every contract awarded has adequate funding, and we have consistently met our obligations to contractors,” he said.
Oborevwori also thanked God for the atmosphere of peace and security in Delta State, describing peace as the foundation for development and investment. He noted that the state’s stable environment has encouraged economic activities and sustained its status as one of Nigeria’s leading oil-producing states.
He commended the security agencies for their steadfastness in maintaining law and order, and acknowledged the contributions of former governors—Chief James Ibori, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa—whose legacies continue to guide the present administration.
The governor also expressed gratitude to the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme; Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor; religious and traditional leaders; civil servants; political appointees; and other stakeholders for their roles in the state’s progress.
Calling for deeper unity among citizens, Oborevwori reiterated that the state’s development rests on collective action and shared commitment.
“Delta State is our home. We have no other. What matters is how we join hands to build it. With unity, Delta will continue to advance and stand out among other states,” he said.
Delivering the sermon titled “Ever Increasing Progress,” renowned cleric Apostle Joshua Selman underscored the importance of acknowledging God as the foundation of sustainable advancement.
He commended Delta State for institutionalizing an annual gathering of thanksgiving and prayed for continuous prosperity.
Selman outlined seven biblical principles for sustained progress: abiding in Christ, eliminating distractions, pursuing knowledge, cultivating courage, embracing humility, building strategic relationships, and maintaining a lifestyle of gratitude.
He praised Governor Oborevwori for his developmental strides and urged leaders and citizens to remain resolute and visionary despite criticisms or difficulties.
The event featured a scripture reading by Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme and powerful praise ministrations by leading gospel artistes such as Dunsin Oyekan, Moses Bliss, Asu Ekiye, Solomon Urete, M & Revelation, Jerry Ekpekuro, and Solo Kings.
A symbolic highlight of the ceremony was the cutting of the third anniversary cake, marking the administration’s milestone.
Notable dignitaries in attendance included former Governors James Ibori and Ifeanyi Okowa; Speaker Emomotimi Guwor; Senators Joel-Onowakpo Thomas and Ede Dafinone; and members of the House of Representatives, including Francis Waive, Jonathan Ukodhiko, and Nnamdi Ezechi.
