“Think Community First” — Asaba Monarch Advocates Unity, Clean Environment

Familiarisation Tour Deepens Community Dialogue
THE traditional ruler of Asaba Kingdom, Epiphany Azinge, has intensified his grassroots engagement with a strategic visit to Ugbomanta villages, reinforcing his commitment to inclusive leadership and community development.
The visit forms part of an ongoing tour across quarters and villages designed to foster closer ties between the palace and residents.
Rising Urban Challenges in Focus
During interactions with community members, the monarch drew attention to the deteriorating physical environment in parts of the area, describing it as inconsistent with the vision of a modern capital city.
He noted that unregulated structures and poor sanitation practices have contributed significantly to environmental degradation.
Absence of Master Plan Raises Alarm
A major concern raised by the Asagba was the lack of a comprehensive urban master plan for Asaba, which he said has led to uncontrolled development and encroachment on critical infrastructure such as access roads and drainage channels.
He stressed that addressing this structural gap is essential to achieving long-term urban sustainability.
Strategic Intervention Through Urban Renewal
To tackle these challenges, the monarch disclosed plans to set up a dedicated urban renewal committee tasked with rethinking and restructuring the physical layout of affected areas.
The proposed intervention aims to align Asaba’s development with its growing economic and administrative importance.
Peace, Unity Key to Development
The Asagba also underscored the importance of social harmony, noting that development cannot thrive in an atmosphere of conflict.
He revealed ongoing efforts to mediate disputes within families and communities, positioning peace as a foundation for progress.
A Call to Civic Responsibility
In a closing message, the monarch challenged the people of Asaba to adopt a more proactive approach to community development.
He encouraged residents to reflect on their contributions to society, stressing that sustainable progress requires collective effort and shared responsibility.
