Court-Backed Enforcement: Delta Agency Moves Against Sanitation Offenders In Capital Territory

Stricter Enforcement in the State Capital
The Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) has intensified its enforcement of environmental sanitation regulations in Asaba, sealing several properties after obtaining a court order.
The move follows repeated failure by defaulters to honour summons issued by the agency’s mobile court.
Multiple Properties Affected in Operation
Properties sealed during the operation include residential and commercial sites such as a building on Isioma Welder Road, a furniture and aluminium workshop, a scrap dump site, a gas retail outlet, and an ongoing construction project.
Authorities said the affected parties failed to comply with environmental directives and ignored court proceedings.
Officials Cite Non-Compliance
Mr. Isaac Nwosu, Head of Environment at DSCTDA, said enforcement became unavoidable due to continued violations and disregard for legal processes.
He reiterated that the agency will not hesitate to act against any individual or business compromising environmental standards.
Leadership Reaffirms Zero Tolerance
DSCTDA Director-General, Mr. Patrick Ukah, stated that the agency is committed to ensuring strict adherence to environmental laws across the capital territory.
He warned that offenders would face legal sanctions as part of efforts to maintain a cleaner and healthier urban environment.
Call for Compliance
The agency appealed to residents and business operators to respect environmental guidelines and respond to official summons promptly to avoid punitive actions.
