Governor Celebrates Workforce on May Day
DELTA State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated workers across the state and Nigeria on the 2026 Workers’ Day, describing them as the backbone of development and governance.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, the governor noted that May Day serves as both a celebration of workers’ contributions and a moment for renewed commitment to building a fair and rewarding work environment.
Recognition of Workers Across Sectors
Oborevwori commended workers in both public and private sectors, including civil servants, teachers, healthcare personnel, artisans, farmers, and entrepreneurs, for their vital roles in driving growth and development.
He praised their resilience and dedication, acknowledging the sacrifices they make daily to sustain economic and social progress.
Highlighting Achievements Under M.O.R.E Agenda
The governor outlined key achievements of his administration under the M.O.R.E Agenda, including prompt payment of salaries and pensions, settlement of pension arrears, and ongoing recruitment in the health sector.
He also pointed to capacity-building programmes aimed at improving productivity, as well as efforts to enhance service delivery through workforce development.
Improved Infrastructure and Economic Support
Oborevwori cited improvements in working conditions through the upgrade of public facilities, renovation of schools, and revitalisation of healthcare centres.
He added that entrepreneurship initiatives have supported small businesses and artisans, while investments in roads, bridges, and markets are boosting economic activities and easing transportation challenges.
