Delta Speaker Reviews Infrastructure Projects, Assures Rural Development Push
Speaker Tours Constituency Projects
THE Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Guwor, has conducted an inspection of ongoing development projects across the Warri South-West Constituency, reaffirming efforts to improve infrastructure and living conditions in riverine communities.
The inspection tour, carried out over the weekend, focused on assessing the level of completion and quality of projects facilitated by the lawmaker in the constituency he represents.
Wide Range of Community-Based Projects
The projects inspected cut across critical sectors including education, healthcare, transportation, and housing.
Key sites visited include classroom blocks at Raymond Primary School in Costain, the Ugborodo modern market, the Ogidigben road project, and the Ogidigben hospital project.
Others are the Madangho community road, Oporoza School project, Battan School renovation, Naifor Island School, and several solar-powered street lighting installations across communities.
Additional projects include housing units at Akpakpa and Kantu, Oporoza town hall, renovation works at Bisobo Primary School, and a concrete landing jetty at Opuedebubor.
Road infrastructure projects such as the Kantu road, Ijaghalla road, and the Okerenkoko-Pepeama-Kokodiagbene road were also part of the inspection.
Focus on Rural Development
Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, the Speaker said the projects were designed to address infrastructure deficits and improve the quality of life in underserved riverine areas.
He emphasised that the initiatives align with the development agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, particularly in extending the dividends of democracy to rural communities.
Guwor noted that the projects are part of a broader strategy to create sustainable development and economic opportunities for residents.
Call to Protect Public Infrastructure
The Speaker urged community members to take ownership of the projects by safeguarding them against vandalism and misuse.
According to him, protecting public infrastructure will encourage further government investment and ensure that communities continue to benefit from development initiatives.
He also expressed appreciation to constituents for their continued support and cooperation.
Residents Commend Projects, Raise Concerns
Residents across the visited communities lauded both the Speaker and the state government for bringing visible development to the area.
They described the projects as impactful and beneficial, particularly in improving access to education, healthcare, and transportation.
However, some residents highlighted lingering challenges, especially the shortage of teachers in public schools, and appealed to the government for urgent intervention.
