Zero Tolerance: DSCTDA Targets Environmental Offenders In Asaba
Environmental Enforcement Intensifies
THE Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) has intensified its environmental enforcement efforts with a sensitisation exercise along the Ogbeogonogo market corridor in Asaba.
During the operation, officials from the Agency’s Environment Unit and Taskforce served Abatement Notices to traders, transport operators and residents accused of indiscriminate refuse disposal and related sanitation violations.
The action forms part of the Agency’s broader mandate to enforce environmental laws and maintain order within the Delta State capital territory.
Education and Compliance
Head of the Environment Unit, Mr. Isaac Nwoso, said the primary objective of the exercise was to educate stakeholders on responsible waste management while compelling immediate compliance.
He noted that refuse dumping on road medians and other unauthorised spots poses health risks and undermines the city’s environmental standards. Affected areas include Victor Odogwu Market, Ogbeafor Primary School axis, Ukala Plaza, as well as transport bodies such as NURTW and COMTOA operating within the corridor.
Nwoso cautioned that failure to comply with the Abatement Notices would result in enforcement measures as provided by law.
Commitment to a Cleaner Capital
Director-General Chief Patrick Ukah reaffirmed the Agency’s determination to uphold sanitation laws and preserve Asaba’s status as a clean and sustainable state capital.
He called on residents and commercial operators to support the initiative by embracing proper waste disposal practices, emphasizing that environmental responsibility is a collective duty.
The DSCTDA signaled that similar enforcement exercises would continue across other parts of the capital territory to ensure sustained compliance and environmental safety.
