From Innovation To Income: Facebook Powers African Creativity

Facebook Champions African Creators
FACEBOOK brought an electrifying blend of creativity, connection, and opportunity to the 2026 African Creators Summit, held at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. The summit convened over 1,000 digital creators, storytellers, innovators, and entrepreneurs from across Africa, all united to shape the future of the continent’s creative economy.
Marking its second consecutive year at the summit, Facebook provided an on-ground activation designed to empower creators with the tools, knowledge, and resources to reach broader audiences, build meaningful communities, and earn sustainably from their content.
“Our presence at the African Creators Summit was about meeting creators where they are, creating meaningful moments of connection, and demonstrating how Facebook empowers creators to succeed,” said Oluwasola Obagbemi, Head of Communications, Sub-Saharan Africa at Meta. “Creators who haven’t fully explored Facebook are missing out on real opportunities. Over the past few years, we’ve introduced features that support monetisation, audience growth, discovery, and community building, and we’re doubling down on making it easier for creators who share original and engaging content to succeed.”
Interactive Experiences and Engagement
At the summit, Facebook delivered a dynamic creator experience, featuring an experiential booth and exclusive lounge led by popular creator Abiri Tobi Festus (Folagade Banks). The space offered interactive moments, quizzes, and creator challenges, designed to bring the Facebook experience to life.
Several creators, including Ify’s Kitchen, Nons Miraj, Nancy Umeh, and Lolo Mbakara, shared their experiences, highlighting how Facebook had helped them grow audiences, reach new fans, and turn creativity into sustainable income. Attendees also captured real-time content with #CreateWithFacebook and received Facebook-branded items as instant rewards.
Threads of the Swag Masters: A Fashion Showcase
Facebook further spotlighted African creativity through “Threads of the Swag Masters”, a high-energy fashion showcase pairing designers and creators to produce culturally inspired, future-forward outfits.
Leading Nigerian creators like Broda Shaggi, Gilmooree, Jenni Frank, and Cute Abiola, alongside Francophone African creators from the Democratic Republic of Congo such as One Khan and King Ana, celebrated Africa’s rich creative heritage on the runway. Each participant received an exclusive Facebook Aso-Oke bag, underscoring the platform’s commitment to creator success.
Building Sustainable Digital Careers
Facebook has consistently championed the African creator economy by providing tools for audience engagement, monetisation, and community building. From its largest social network to immersive features that enhance content discovery, Facebook continues to support creators in turning passion into profit, ensuring Africa’s digital economy thrives.
With initiatives like interactive lounges, fashion showcases, and hands-on creator challenges, Facebook is not only empowering individual creators but also fostering a continental community that celebrates innovation, entrepreneurship, and storytelling.
“As African creators continue to shape global culture and commerce, the continent remains a priority market,” Obagbemi noted. “Our commitment is to ensure creators have the tools, support, and visibility to build sustainable digital careers.”
The 2026 African Creators Summit highlighted that beyond the technology, the real value lies in connection, collaboration, and recognition—elements Facebook is committed to nurturing as the African creator economy continues to expand.
