Ladies Golf Championship Set For Global Spotlight Through NTA

NTA Backs Nigeria’s Hosting of 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy
THE Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) has pledged comprehensive media coverage to promote Nigeria’s hosting of the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT), underscoring the country’s commitment to positioning the championship as a premier continental sporting event.
The assurance was given by Kayode Adeniyi, General Manager of NTA Sports Channel, when he received a delegation from the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN) on Friday in Abuja. The delegation was led by LGAN President, Lami Ahmed, following Nigeria’s successful bid to host the biennial women’s golf championship.
Adeniyi, who has covered ladies’ golf extensively since 2010, described himself as a longstanding supporter of LGAN and said his relationship with the association strengthened NTA’s commitment to promoting the AACT.
“Golf has given me immense international exposure, and we are ready to project the AACT positively,” Adeniyi said. “The championship will showcase Nigeria as safe, welcoming, and economically vibrant to Africa and the world.”
He added that NTA would work closely with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) to ensure extensive publicity across multiple platforms, reinforcing Nigeria’s capability to host a world-class continental tournament.
LGAN President Lami Ahmed expressed gratitude for NTA’s consistent support for women’s golf. She confirmed that the 2026 AACT will be staged from 1 to 7 November at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja, marking the first time the event will return to Nigeria since 2010.
Ahmed highlighted ongoing preparations and stakeholder engagement as crucial for a successful championship, emphasizing that the AACT would showcase Nigeria’s hospitality, organisational capacity, and continental leadership in women’s sports.
