Courtesy Visit to the Palace
A delegation of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (AOSCSON), Delta State Branch, has paid a courtesy visit to the Asagba of Asaba, HRM Prof. Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge, SAN, at his palace in Asaba.
The visit, which took place on 2 February 2026, was led by the association’s Chairman, Ogbueshi Comrade Henry Adim Okafor, following the inauguration of the new state executive.
Monarch Recognises Role of Civil Servants
Receiving the delegation, the Asagba congratulated the leadership of AOSCSON and described senior civil servants as key drivers of effective governance. He noted that their position places them at the centre of policy implementation and institutional stability.
The monarch urged them to see themselves as role models, particularly to younger officers in the civil service, stressing that leadership demands accountability, integrity and discipline.
Emphasis on Work Ethics
Asagba Azinge used the occasion to speak on the need for improved work ethics in Nigeria’s civil service. Drawing from his tenure as Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, he narrated how he enforced punctuality through a structured attendance monitoring system.
According to him, such measures were necessary to instill seriousness and responsibility, adding that a change in mindset was essential for meaningful reform in public service.
Peace and Safety in Asaba
The monarch reaffirmed that Asaba Kingdom remains peaceful and welcoming, assuring residents of continued cooperation with government authorities to maintain security. He encouraged civil servants to support efforts aimed at sustaining harmony and social order within the kingdom.
Union’s Message of Partnership
In his remarks, AOSCSON Chairman, Ogbueshi Henry Adim Okafor, expressed gratitude to the Asagba for the audience and hospitality. He explained that the visit was to formally acquaint the monarch with the association’s activities and to seek partnership in promoting peaceful coexistence among residents of Asaba.
He said AOSCSON was committed to supporting initiatives that enhance harmony between government institutions, traditional authorities and the wider community.
Blessings and Way Forward
The Chairman sought the monarch’s royal blessings and guidance, describing him as a leader with an open-door policy. In response, the Asagba offered prayers for the success of the association’s leadership and its members.
The visit underscored growing collaboration between organised labour and traditional institutions in advancing peace, discipline and development in Asaba Kingdom.
