Delta APC Rallies Leaders Around Unity, 2027 Readiness

APC Stakeholders Convene High-Level Meeting in Asaba
STAKEHOLDERS of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State on Friday gathered at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Asaba, for a strategic meeting focused on strengthening party unity, expanding electronic registration, grassroots mobilisation and preparations ahead of forthcoming party congresses.
The meeting brought together senior party leaders, elected officials and grassroots representatives from across the state’s three senatorial districts.
Oborevwori Calls for Unity and Selfless Leadership
Addressing the gathering, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori underscored the importance of unity, humility and service-driven leadership, stressing that political authority derives its legitimacy from the people.
He urged party stakeholders to place collective interest above personal ambition, warning that internal divisions and avoidable conflicts could undermine the party’s growth and electoral prospects.
“Unity remains our greatest strength,” the governor said, adding that sustained engagement and mutual respect were essential for consolidating the party’s structures ahead of key political milestones.
Focus on Mobilisation and Electoral Strength
Governor Oborevwori noted that meetings of this nature provide opportunities to assess progress, fine-tune strategies and ensure readiness for future contests. He emphasised that effective mobilisation, credible registration and active participation would largely determine electoral outcomes.
He further charged party members to deliver massive support for President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections, noting that electoral strength would enhance the party’s influence and capacity to attract federal attention and benefits.
Keyamo, Omo-Agege Stress Consensus
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Chief Festus Keyamo, SAN, commended the progress recorded in the party’s e-registration exercise, describing the growing diversity of the APC in Delta as a positive development.
He urged members to remain focused as the party approaches congresses, cautioning against rumours, unnecessary delays and internal tensions. Keyamo advocated early engagement, dialogue and consensus-building as tools for managing disagreements.
Immediate past Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, thanked Governor Oborevwori for convening the meeting, describing his visit to Government House after many years as a sign of inclusiveness. He pledged to work with the governor and other stakeholders to strengthen the APC.
Grassroots Drive and E-Registration Updates
Former Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, urged intensified grassroots mobilisation, encouraging party leaders to take e-registration directly to homes and communities. He emphasised inclusiveness and consensus in the conduct of congresses, praising the governor’s role in fostering harmony.
National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr. Felix Morka, lauded the digitalisation of the party’s membership register and recommended consensus as the guiding principle for congresses.
State APC Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, disclosed that the party had achieved over 90 per cent realignment since April 2025, describing the meeting as evidence of renewed unity and momentum.
