By FRED LONGJOHN OBEH
CAF is set to introduce a major increase in prize money for its top club competitions, with Champions League winners now expected to pocket as much as $6 million, while Confederation Cup champions will take home $4 million.
The revised prize structure marks a significant step in CAF’s efforts to modernize African football and reward clubs for continental success. Officials believe the improved payouts will allow clubs to strengthen their squads, invest in facilities, and focus more on long-term development.
The move also aligns with CAF’s broader strategy to enhance the commercial value of its competitions, improve global visibility, and raise the overall standard of club football across Africa.
