THE Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has announced the recovery of ₦37.44 billion and $2.353 million in 2025 through asset seizures and forfeitures. The disclosure was made by the Commission’s Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, during the ICPC End-of-Year Engagement and Annual Merit Awards held in Abuja.
Aliyu described the recoveries as one of the most significant annual achievements in the Commission’s history, noting that 2025 marked a pivotal year of progress across enforcement, prevention and public enlightenment. According to him, the ICPC investigated 263 cases during the year, surpassing its target, and filed 61 cases in court, recording a conviction rate of 55.74 per cent.
Among the notable convictions was that of Prof. Cyril Ndifon of the University of Calabar, who received a five-year prison sentence for offences related to sexual harassment and cyberbullying. Aliyu said the judgment underscored the Commission’s commitment to confronting all forms of abuse of office.
He added that preventive measures were intensified across 344 Ministries, Departments and Agencies, alongside extensive public enlightenment campaigns that reached hundreds of thousands of Nigerians nationwide.
