2026: Gov Oborevwori Presents ₦1.664tr Budget Proposal To Delta Assembly …70 Per Cent Boost Targets Infrastructure, Economic Growth
DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Wednesday presented a ₦1.664 trillion budget proposal for the 2026 fiscal year to the Delta State House of Assembly, describing it as a strategic blueprint to fast-track development across the state.
The proposed spending plan represents a ₦685 billion increase—a 70 per cent rise over the 2025 budget.
Presenting the estimates before lawmakers, the governor said the budget was structured to strengthen critical sectors and deliver major infrastructure projects across all parts of the state.
A breakdown of the proposal shows:

Recurrent Expenditure: ₦499 billion — 30 per cent
Covering personnel costs, overheads and general administrative operations. -
Capital Expenditure: ₦1.165 trillion — 70 per cent
Dedicated to infrastructure upgrades, economic expansion programmes and long-term development investments.
Oborevwori noted that the 2026 financial plan aligns with his administration’s long-term development agenda, adding that the increased capital vote underscores his commitment to improved infrastructure, job creation and enhanced social services.
He said the state’s economic outlook for 2026 is anchored on prudent fiscal management, expanded revenue, and strategic investments that would deliver sustainable growth.
