2027: Oborevwori Charges Delta APC To Take Tinubu’s Message To Every Ward
DELTA State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council to take the party’s message directly to voters ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He gave the charge on Thursday in Asaba during the inauguration of the Delta State APC Campaign Council. At the event, he also unveiled MORE Plus as the theme of his re-election campaign.
Describing the assignment as a call to service, Oborevwori urged members to work with unity, discipline and dedication. He said their goal was to secure victory for President Bola Tinubu, himself and other APC candidates.
However, he stressed that the campaign must go beyond rallies and political meetings. Instead, party members should engage market women, youths, workers, farmers and traders through door-to-door campaigns and direct conversations.
He also directed coordinators at local government and ward levels to strengthen their structures, work with support groups and take the party’s message to every polling unit.
According to the governor, the APC should campaign on its record in government. He pointed to Tinubu’s policies and his administration’s M.O.R.E Agenda, which focuses on infrastructure, education, healthcare, workers’ welfare, youth empowerment and security.
“Our achievements must speak for us, but we must also be prepared to explain them convincingly,” he said. Consequently, he urged party members to show voters how government policies and projects affect their daily lives.
Meanwhile, Oborevwori assured residents that the campaign would not disrupt governance. He promised that ongoing projects and development programmes would continue throughout the electioneering period.
He also called on politicians and their supporters to preserve peace, reject hate speech and prevent political disagreements from dividing the state.
Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme praised Oborevwori for aligning Delta State with the Federal Government. He urged party faithful to consolidate the gains of that relationship by working towards victory in 2027.
Onyeme also encouraged members to publicise Tinubu’s policies on local government autonomy, education funding, grassroots development, security, electricity and road infrastructure.
Similarly, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo defended the Federal Government’s economic reforms. He argued that difficult decisions were necessary to address longstanding economic problems, including the unsustainable cost of fuel subsidies.
Although the reforms had caused temporary hardship, Keyamo maintained that they were intended to tackle underlying challenges in the economy.
In his welcome address, Delta APC Chairman Chief Solomon Arenyeka said the inauguration demonstrated the party’s readiness to contest and win elections at all levels. He urged council members to work together, mobilise voters peacefully and turn the achievements of APC-led governments into electoral support.
Former Governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, speaking for Delta North Senatorial District, said expectations were high following Delta State’s mass defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC in April 2025. He challenged the council to demonstrate the party’s strength through a strong electoral performance and direct voter engagement.
For Delta Central, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor welcomed the APC’s emergence as the ruling party in the state and pledged support for the re-election of Tinubu and Oborevwori.
Representing Delta South, former Secretary to the State Government Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay said the administration’s achievements would strengthen the campaign. He also assured the party that the district would work towards delivering substantial votes.
Former APC National Woman Leader and Nigerian Export-Import Bank Executive Director Stella Okotete urged women to intensify grassroots mobilisation. She set a target of at least 75 per cent of the votes for Tinubu and other APC candidates.
Responding, Campaign Council Director-General Senator James Manager pledged to work with party leaders and members to secure victory. He described the assignment as a major responsibility that required collective effort and sustained grassroots mobilisation.
Under the new structure, Oborevwori will chair the campaign council, while Manager will serve as Director-General and Chiedu Ebie as Deputy Director-General. The council is expected to coordinate the party’s campaign activities across Delta State ahead of the 2027 elections.
