2026 BECE: 85,049 Delta Students Pass As 12,241 Face Re-sit

THE Delta State Government has released the results of the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination, with 85,049 candidates recording passes.
The figure represents candidates who passed out of the 97,817 students who sat for the examination across the state.
The Delta State Ministry of Secondary Education disclosed the results following the examination, which took place from 1 to 5 June 2026.
12,241 Candidates Scheduled for Re-sit
While most candidates passed the examination, 12,241 students are scheduled to take the re-sit examination.
Another 527 candidates were unsuccessful in the examination, according to the ministry.
The Basic Education Certificate Examination, commonly known as the JS3 examination, marks an important stage in the academic progression of junior secondary school students.
The ministry said it conducted the examination at designated centres across Delta State.
It also said officials implemented measures to promote a smooth, credible and transparent examination process.
Commissioner Hails Performance
The Commissioner for Secondary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, described the results as encouraging.
He attributed the performance to the state government’s efforts to improve teaching and learning outcomes in public schools.
Ashibogwu congratulated the successful candidates and urged them to remain focused as they advance in their education.
For candidates preparing for the re-sit, he advised them to take the opportunity seriously and prepare adequately.
The commissioner also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the state’s education system.
He said the government would continue to focus on effective supervision, teacher support, improved learning facilities and other measures designed to raise academic standards.
Results Available Free of Charge
Ashibogwu further disclosed that candidates can obtain access cards for checking their results at their school principals’ offices.
He stressed that the cards are available free of charge.
The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Henry Akambe, described the release of the results as another milestone in the state’s efforts to promote standards and accountability in education.
Akambe encouraged candidates scheduled for the re-sit to remain determined and approach the examination with renewed commitment.
Ministry Assures Parents of Credibility
The Director of Examinations and Standards, Mrs. Clementina Ojumah, said the ministry carefully processed and verified the results.
She said officials followed established standards throughout the process.
Ojumah assured candidates and parents of the credibility of the results.
She also advised them to rely on official information from the ministry for details about result collection and arrangements for the re-sit examination.
