₦200,000 Up For Grabs As Awele Ilusanmi Short Story Contest Returns

THE second edition of the Dr. Awele Ilusanmi Short Story Competition will open for entries on 1st September 2026.
Organisers have fixed 20th December 2026 as the closing date. They will announce the winner and present the prize on 1st January 2027.
The FAMBI Group sponsors the competition, while Authors’ Hub organises it.
The initiative honours Dr. Awele Ilusanmi for her contributions to literature, learning and intellectual development in Nigeria.
The overall winner will receive a cash prize of ₦200,000.
Beyond the prize, the competition aims to encourage creative writing and give writers a platform to develop and showcase their talents.
Both emerging and established writers can take advantage of the opportunity.
The maiden edition ran from September to December 2025. Celina Chinwemmeri Ikechukwu emerged as the overall winner with her short story, A Window Between Us.
Meanwhile, 10 other contestants received certificates of participation.
The organisers have opened the second edition to writers of all ages and nationalities.
Sumaila Isah Umaisha, Founder and Coordinator of Authors’ Hub, said the organisers would release detailed guidelines, eligibility requirements and other participation criteria later.
The new edition is therefore expected to attract another diverse pool of writers as Authors’ Hub and its partners continue to create opportunities for literary expression and emerging creative voices.
