Abuja to Host ANA 2026 International Convention
THE Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) has unveiled details for its 45th International Convention, reaffirming the organisation’s commitment to fostering literary excellence and strengthening Nigeria’s global literary footprint. According to a press release by Prof. Obari Gomba, Vice President of ANA and Chairman of the Convention Planning Committee, the convention will take place from 29 October to 1 November 2026 at the serene Mamman Vatsa Writers’ Village in Abuja.
The chosen theme, “Nigerian Literature and the Place of Nigeria in the World,” signals ANA’s intent to explore how Nigerian writers shape global narratives, influence cultural diplomacy, and project the nation’s identity on the international stage.
Programme Highlights: From Festival to Awards
The convention will begin on Thursday 29 October, with participant registration and the Festival of Life, an opening showcase of literary readings, performances, and artistic creativity. The festival is designed not only to celebrate literature but also to strengthen bonds among participants, creating a collaborative atmosphere for the sessions ahead.
On Friday 30 October, the Opening Ceremony will formally declare the convention underway. Attendees will benefit from keynote lectures, practical workshops across writing genres, and interactive sessions. The Convention Play, a highlight of the day, will explore the intersection of literature and theatre, reinforcing ANA’s tradition of blending performance and storytelling.
Saturday 31 October, will feature the Annual General Meeting (AGM) for members, with discussions on policy, strategic planning, and literary development initiatives. Evening festivities will include the Dinner and Award Night, recognizing outstanding contributions to Nigerian literature through ANA’s prestigious literary awards.
Registration, Fees, and Membership Guidelines
The National Executive Council (NEC) of ANA has outlined registration procedures. Members are required to process payments through their State Chapters, with an early bird fee of ₦30,000 and a late fee of ₦45,000, both inclusive of annual dues and AGM access.
Non-members can register via State Chapters at ₦40,000 early bird or ₦55,000 late registration, gaining access to conference materials but not the AGM. Individuals not on the Revalidated Register will automatically be classified as non-members. The early bird deadline is 30 July 2026, with late registration closing on 30 September 2026.
